This was the best book of the series so far, in my opinion. I've been obsessed with the Roanoke Colony mystery since I was a child, and I got little glimpses of more theories in this book. *Squee! There really isn't a lot of information available, but Haddix pulls out everything she could. The introduction of new, unexpected time travelers throws everything out of whack and makes for an exciting adventure as Jonah and Katherine try to figure out who they can really trust! I loved how the kids slowly learned to lean on each other and to trust their instincts. There is a huge new twist introduced at the end of this book that makes for a new storyline in the overall series arc that I am really excited about...I don't want to give spoilers, so I won't say any more. If you like historical fiction done in a very accessible way...information fed to you from a modern kid's perspective, you will love this series. Add in the danger of going to new time periods, attempted murder, etc. and you have a real winner!!
